Sensei Michael

Sensei Michael Paritsky took his first class at Seido on January 4, 1991. Although he’d been interested in karate since he was a child, it wasn’t until he was in his mid-twenties that he went in search of a dojo and decided that Honbu was the right place for him. He was also keen at the time on learning some self defense.

He trained for 10 years before taking a break, returning in 2017. Since his return, he has challenged himself to compete in both kata and kumite at Seido’s Annual & Benefit tournaments.

In 2020, Sensei Michael started teaching outdoors during the pandemic, and he now teaches a white belt class. He encourages his students to take responsibility for their own karate practice, telling them that while taking classes is of course central to training, taking time to work on material and skills outside of class — including meditation and cross training for strength and mobility — will pay huge dividends in their progress.
