Senpai Jenn

Senpai Jenn Zappola has been training in Seido karate since 2009. She always had an interest in karate, so when she happened to walk by Honbu's former location on 23rd Street one day, she went in and signed up. As soon as she walked through the door, she knew it was the right place for her. Prior to joining Seido, she had trained at Tiger Schulman’s karate.

Senpai Jenn started teaching white belts in 2014 and now also teaches the morning color belt classes. She emphasizes in her instruction that training should not be a race to the next belt level or a rush to learn material, but rather an individual journey that each student takes at their own pace.

Since becoming an instructor, Senpai Jenn has learned that each student's abilities and learning curves are different. She therefore finds it important to not only be patient with the students as they learn, but also with herself.

Senpai Jenn is the front desk manager at Honbu and also works as a personal trainer. In 2018, she donated one of her kidneys to her mother. Her favorite kata is Pinan IV.
